At Burnham Market Primary School we believe that learning should be enjoyable and we aim to provide a creative, inspirational and enquiry-based curriculum which incorporates the National Curriculum, but also takes into consideration the varying needs of every learner in our school. We also have a strong emphasis on values and British values in our school, weaving this throughout our curriculum. Our teaching and learning takes place within a topic-based curriculum approach, linking in our core subjects where possible. This enables more cross-curricular work and ensures that there are more creative and meaningful learning experiences for our children. The curriculum we have developed is based on an annual cycle of whole school themes (one per half term) which creates a focal point for learning and affords more whole school curriculum enrichment opportunities through educational visits/visitors. Each class then creates its own curriculum, suitable for their children, linking it to the whole school theme. This creates a sense of cohesion in our learning, but allows for progression through the key stages.
